Public Policy
National Pork Producers Council
The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) conducts public policy outreach on behalf of its 44 affiliated state association
members - enhancing opportunities for the success of U.S. pork producers and other
industry stakeholders by establishing the U.S. pork industry as a consistent and
responsible supplier of high quality pork to the domestic and world market.
As the pork industry changes in scope and complexity, the challenge to pork producers
is to adapt and continue to be profitable. NPPC is meeting those challenges through a
series of strategic programs designed to address issues affecting pork from production
to consumer demand.
NPPC collects the voluntary assessment titled Strategic Investment Program (SIP)
currently set at 0.10 per $100 in value. This contribution is used by the NPPC
and the CPPA to fund their public policy advocacy and regulatory affairs programs for the
pork industry.
