2025 Golden Opportunity Scholarship Recipients Announced

The California Pork Producers Association (CPPA) proudly announced the recipients of the Golden Opportunity Scholarships at the 2025 California Youth Ag Expo (CYAE). This scholarship program was created to recognize and support outstanding youth who are committed to the future of California’s swine and agriculture industries. Selected recipients demonstrated strong leadership, a passion for animal agriculture, and a clear vision for their continued involvement in the pork industry.

“This scholarship represents more than financial support—it’s an investment in the next generation of agricultural leaders,” said Brad Mendes, California Pork Producers Association Board President. “We’re honored to present these awards at CYAE, a premier youth livestock event that shares our commitment to empowering young people in agriculture.”

Recipients of the 2025 Golden Opportunity Scholarships include:

• Hallie Avery – Modesto Junior College

• Cayden Ewing – Chico State

• Bryce Eames – Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo

• Emma Lane – Fresno State University

• Jake Lewis – Modesto Junior College

• Parker Simon – Gavilan Community College

Each recipient was recognized during the Friday evening awards ceremony, as part of the event’s tradition and sense of community, where they were celebrated for their achievements and dedication to the industry.

The Golden Opportunity Scholarships are made possible through funds generated by CPPA’s annual Golden Opportunity Sale. The sale highlights the very best gilts raised and shown in California each year, and honors the hard work and dedication of our youth exhibitors. All commission earned from the Golden Opportunity Sale is reinvested into scholarships for exceptional young people pursuing careers in agriculture and the pork industry.
