This past year marked the exciting launch of the Certified California Bred Program (CCBP), and what a year it has been! We’ve seen tremendous pride from exhibitors, breeders, and families who share in the commitment to raising and showing California-bred pigs.
Thanks to the support of our California breeders, sponsors, and exhibitors, Year One made a real impact:
$11,000 raised to support the program — all of which went back to California youth exhibitors.
$5,100 awarded in premiums to the top three earning exhibitors, including a $3,300 check to our top earner.
44 checks awarded to exhibitors throughout the year.
144 hats presented to breeders and class winners, recognizing their hard work.
44 banners earned by Certified California Bred pigs in the show ring.
These numbers represent more than just dollars and banners — they tell the story of a community that came together to invest in the next generation. They highlight the quality of California genetics, the dedication of breeders, and the determination of youth exhibitors who proudly carried the CCBP name into the ring.
Certified California Bred Champions from the California State Fair and the California Youth Ag Expo can be found here.
But this is just the beginning. As we look toward Year Two, we want to build on this momentum — and that’s where we need your help. Your feedback will help us evaluate what worked well, identify opportunities to improve, and ensure the program continues to deliver value to exhibitors, breeders, and supporters across California.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Certified California Bred Program in its first year. With your input, we are confident Year Two will be even stronger and more impactful.
